Get Your Kicks Heading East on Route 66

Come join us for our next drive on Saturday, June 13, 2026 as we will be exploring more of Historic Route 66, this time east of Albuquerque, part of the 1937 realignment, with our final destination Las Vegas. Our meeting point will be the parking lot at the Smith’s in Edgewood (north side of the parking lot) at 8:00-8:15 a.m. with departure by 8:30. There will be eastbound bridge construction on I-40 at Carnuel so you may wish to drive Old 66/NM 333 from Tramway and Central out through Tijeras Canyon to Edgewood. As we leave Edgewood we will be driving Old Route 66 east through Moriarty where we’ll merge onto I-40. Continuing past Clines Corner, we’ll take the scenic Hwy 3 north to Villanueva State Park, our halfway point and bathroom stop. From there we’ll continue on up to I-25, part of the pre-1937 route, and on to Las Vegas. Lunch will be at the historic Fred Harvey Castañeda Hotel with a tour afterwards.
