I found my car on this site in 2019. The prior owner was approached at a local BMWCCA meeting about this non-running car as a project. After inspecting it, he found the body to be in excellent condition—no rust, perfectly straight. He decided it was worth restoring. He invested a significant amount of time and money to get it running again. He then focused on restoring the SLS shock system and paint correction. I have most of the receipts documenting this work. When I received the car, it started and drove, but it didn't meet my expectations. It felt like a neglected 1989 model that needed considerable attention. I decided to have VSR (Vintage Sports and Restorations) in New Hampshire inspect it. Initially we budgeted $5000 to bring it up to par, the final cost approached $8000 due to unforeseen repairs that surfaced once they started the work. I can provide a detailed invoice of everything that was done, including motor mounts, bushings, A/C conversion, radiator replacement, and steering adjustments. When I got the car back, it finally performed as I had hoped. A year or two later, I replaced the front seat covers with black leather which turned out beautifully. The steering wheel was also recovered, and I managed to secure what was supposedly the last available weather stripping for the passenger door in the U.S. With these upgrades, the car not only looked great but also became incredibly comfortable to drive. The following year, VSR installed a new exhaust system, giving the car an awesome sound. This isn't a show car—it's meant to be driven. It's incredibly reliable, comfortable, and has a timeless appeal.
