Description
This 1973 BMW 2002tii is a right-hand-drive example that was imported from the UK to the US in 2017 and purchased by the seller in 2024. Repainted in Malaga over black leatherette upholstery, it is powered by a 2.0-liter M10 inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection, 13″ steel wheels, lowering springs, and Bilstein shocks in addition to European-specification bumpers, a cassette radio, a heater, and an E21 steering wheel.
The car was reportedly refurbished in 2014, and work under current ownership included changing the fluids, resealing the fuel tank, and replacing the driveshaft center support, tires, window and trunk seals, braking and ignition components, and more as detailed below. This RHD tii is now offered with parts and service records, spare parts, and a clean South Carolina title in the seller’s name. The car was factory-finished in Malaga (021) and was repainted under prior ownership circa 2014. Features include European-specification bumpers, vent windows, dual side mirrors, chrome trim, and round taillights. The right-rear quarter window was replaced in 2024 along with the trunk and vent-window seals.
Silver-finished 13″ steel wheels with chromed hubcaps were fitted with 185/70 Vee Rubber City Star-V2 tires in preparation for the sale. Bilstein shocks and lowering springs have been added, and the car was equipped from the factory with front and rear anti-roll bars. Braking is provided by power-assisted front discs and rear drums, and the fluid reservoir and the booster line and check valve were replaced in 2024.The reclining front bucket seats and the rear bench are upholstered in black leatherette with textured inserts.
Gray replacement carpeting was installed under current ownership, and additional appointments include a Lucas Audio cassette radio, a heater, a rear window defroster, and a MotoMeter clock. Photos of a dashboard and separated seat-upholstery seams can be viewed in the gallery.
The three-spoke E21 steering wheel frames a 120-mph speedometer and a tachometer with a 6,400-rpm redline as well as gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 64k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.0-liter M10 inline-four features Kugelfischer mechanical fuel injection and was factory rated at 130 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque in European specification. Work under current ownership included changing the oil, flushing the coolant, and replacing the following components:
Battery
Ignition condenser
Spark plugs and ignition wires
Fuel injection pump belt
Intake boot
Fuse-box cover
Under-hood insulation
Fan Belt
Alternator Bushings
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The clutch was replaced in 2016, and service in 2024 consisted of replacing the driveshaft center support along with refurbishing and resealing the fuel tank.
Spare parts will accompany the car, as will parts and service records.
