The Mini E Race Coupe has been spied for the first time—it's scheduled to debut next year—when it was caught by worldcarfans.com photographers on the streets of Munich.

More than three years ago, the original Mini E race car managed to lap the Nürburgring in 9 minutes 51 seconds, which made it the fastest all-electric vehicle ever to lap the Ring. That was the hatchback version; now it appears that  Mini has prepared an evolution of that vehicle, but in the coupe body style.

Caught on the streets of Munich, the 2014 Mini E Race Coupe sports a huge rear spoiler. It comes with a roll cage, a racing steering wheel, and racing seats. Details about the electric motor are not known at this moment but most likely it is more powerful than the 204 bhp unit in its predecessor. Expect the new Mini E Race to be launched in 2014.— Paul Duchene
