The new F26 BMW X4 Sports Activity Coupe is scheduled for a world premiere at the 2014 New York International Auto Show on Wednesday, April 16. Thanks to the sharp-eyed contributors to BIMMERTODAY, we can see what one looks like in the wild.

This factory test vehicle in Tiefseeblau Metallic (tiefseeblau = deep sea blue) was caught at a filling station in Munich near the BMW FIZ (FIZ = BMW's Research and Innovation Center). We don’t know if it was there for the gasoline or diesel fuel, since Euro models will be available with both types of engines.

The U.S. will get—at least initially—two gasoline-powered versions: the X4 xDrive28i, with a MSRP of $45,625 (including Destination & Handling), will have BMW’s 240 horsepower, two-liter four cylinder, while the X4 xDrive35i, with an MSRP of $48,925 (including Destination & Handling), will come with a 300 horsepower three-liter inline six. Both models have an eight-speed Steptronic sport automatic transmission.

The BMW X4 will join the other BMW X-vehicles on the production lines this spring at the BMW Manufacturing plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.—Scott Blazey
