Terry Borcheller and Mike LaMarra, driving the #23 Burton Racing 128i, finished sixth in the Street Tuner class in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge race at Circuit Of The Americas on September 18, while Trent Hindman and Ashley Freiberg finished seventh overall and seventh in Grand Sport in the #46 Fall-Line M3. Hindman had been running fourth with just over 30 minutes left in the 2 ½-hour race when he was called in to serve a drive-through penalty for contact.
Robin Liddell and Andrew Davis, who won the race in a Stevenson Motorsports Camaro Z28, all but clinched the Grand Sport title. Their closest competitors for the championship, Matt and Hugh Plumb in the Rum Bum Porsche 911, lost a fan belt with 35 minutes remaining in the race. They still have a slight mathematical chance of winning the title, but if Liddell and Davis start the Road Atlanta finale and finish in the points they should win.
Porsche Cayman racers Spencer Pumpelly and Luis Rodriquez, Jr. won Street Tuner, finishing just ahead of Stevan McAleer and Chad McCumbee in a Mazda MX-5.
