Mini built the John Cooper Works for maximum performance and maximum fun. According to the readers of the German automotive magazine sport auto, Mini succeeded. In the prestigious 2015 sport auto awards, the Mini John Cooper Works was voted best importer small car.

The most powerful engine ever installed in a Mini production model drives the Mini John Cooper Works. The two-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine with Mini TwinPower turbo technology produces 231 horsepower, and when combined with the six-speed manual transmission, gets the little beast from zero-to-60 mph in 6.3 seconds—exceptional for a Mini. A six-speed Steptronic sports transmission is optional.

While the Mini John Cooper Works’ powerful motor drives the car to high-performance fun, it can also be driven economically. The car is capable of fuel economy in the 35 miles per gallon range.

The current Mini John Cooper Works sports distinctive color selections and aggressive design elements, inside and out, that are only available on this model.

Started in 1980, the sport auto award is one of the longest-running and most prestigious annual auto awards in Germany. Winning one is a very big deal for automakers that sell cars there. More than 13,600 sport auto readers voted in this year’s survey, which included 30 production car categories and ten tuning model classes. BMW-branded models did very well in the 2015 awards.
