Carter Kelly Kramer’s story is unique, but not all that unusual for many BMW enthusiasts who have resurrected classic Bimmers or known someone who has. It’s a story of persistence, dedication, and something many of us can appreciate and identify with: owning the car of your dreams, especially when that car is a classic BMW.
Carter’s dream car is an Inka Orange 1976 BMW 2002 that he found on eBay. He bought it, fixed it up, wrecked it, rebuilt it, sold it, regretted selling it, and eventually, bought it back and finally turned it into the car of his dreams.
This 2002 was not only Carter’s ticket to the world of BMW, but also his ticket to learn. He took the car apart and put it back together, learning not just about auto mechanics, but about how an enthusiast can build a relationship with a car.
“I realized I took [a] nightmare and turned it into a dream…it’s taught me about cars, and driving, and fixing things. You can’t put a price tag on that.”
This video documents Carter’s story:
It is great seeing a guy enjoying his BMW. We certainly appreciate that the car sports an older BMW (no space) CCA decal on the driver’s side wing window. If Carter is an active Club member, he could certainly help out during chapter tech sessions, and we know everyone would love seeing his 2002 at chapter gatherings.—Scott Blazey.
