Tom Coronel of ROAL Motorsport won a race-long battle of the BMWs with Mehdi Bennani to take the second World Touring Car Championship sprint on the Suzuka circuit in Japan.

Three more BMW 320 TC racers, Charles Ng, Stefano d’Aste, and Darryl O’Young finished in the points, coming across the line seventh, ninth and tenth respectively.

Honda racer Norbert Michelisz won race one ahead of Chevrolet’s Alec McDowell and Yvan Muller. Muller clinched his fourth WTCC drivers’ title with his third place finish. Michelisz and Muller went on to take each other out on lap one of the second sprint.

WTCC will run its final races of the season in Shanghai and Macau in November.—Brian S. Morgan
