The photo is a little fuzzy and the car still sports some camouflage, but you can clearly see a BMW M2 in its expected official release color, Long Beach Blue. The spy shot was posted on a BMW M2 Facebook page.
Long Beach Blue is one of four initial M2 colors, the others being Sapphire Black, Mineral Grey, and Alpine White. Expect the majority of publicity photos from BMW to show the car in Long Beach Blue.
BMW passed on the opportunity to release the car at the Frankfurt International Auto Show this coming week, probably because it didn’t want attention diverted from the new flagship 7 Series. The company still has not announced an official public release date. It could be at the Los Angeles Auto Show that begins for the press on November 19th. However, BMW could wait until the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, which opens for the media on January 11, 2016.
We really hope it’s no later than LA. We’ve waited long enough—Scott Blazey
