Incumbents file for uncontested seats
When the filing deadline closed for BMW CCA Board nominations at the end of October, each open seat had just one candidate: the incumbent for that position. Bruce Hazard will be running unopposed for BMW CCA Board President, while North Central RVP Mike Lingenfelter and South Atlantic RVP Paul Dunlevy will also reclaim their positions. While a lack of opposition may indicate general support of the membership—sort of a vote of confidence in the status quo—the formalities of an election with foregone conclusions will probably need some attention by the Board, who will have to decide whether to spend thousands of dollars mailing out ballots. “It’s part of the price of success,” says BMW CCA executive director Frank Patek. “When you have 70,000 members, every mailing gets pretty expensive—along with the cost of guaranteeing and certifying accurate election results.
