BMW will return in force to defend the drivers’, manufacturers’, and team championships that it won in its first year back in DTM competition in 2012.
All three 2012 teams and all six 2012 drivers will be back. Newly crowned champion Bruno Spengler, Augusto Farfus, Joey Hand, Andy Priaulx, Martin Tomczyk, and Dirk Werner will return, as will BMW Teams Schnitzer, RBM, and RMG.
BMW motorsport director Jens Marquardt said “All six of our drivers produced very good performances last season and contributed to BMW Motorsport winning the Manufacturers’ Championship. For that reason, it is a logical step to put our faith in our sextet again in 2013.”
A fourth two-car team, BMW Team MTEK managed by Martin Knoors, will be added. Marco Wittman, who was a BMW Motorsport test and development driver in 2012, will become the seventh DTM driver; an eighth driver will be named later.
