    When the facelifted 7-Series debut s next year, it will face stiff competition from the all-new Mercedes Benz S-Klasse. But judging from Autoevolution spyshots, it seems that BMW has decided to leave the car relatively unchanged in appearance .

    Most of the changes will take place under the hood. However,  exterior changes will include new LED accents wherever possible. The indicators will take on the form of an LED bar, with LED headlights as an optional extra. Cosmetic changes will also cover restyled bumpers, front and back, and a new spoiler.

    The engine lineup will feature some of BMW's new units. Expect  twin turbos in the 740i  with power from 350 hp, while the 750i should have about 450 horsepower from a 4.4-liter V8 with BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology with two turbochargers and direct injection.

    There’s no info on the V12 in the 760i, but that could a victim of the downsizing trend. Look for the  2013 BMW 7-Series facelift at the 2012 Beijing Auto Show in April, as well as New York, since the Chinese and American markets are the mainstay for luxury four-doors.    —Paul Duchene
