Pruett and Rojas finish second in drivers’ points
While Pruett and Rojas did not score a fourth consecutive drivers’ title, Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates won its fourth straight team championship; it was the team's seventh Rolex Series team title.
Dane Cameron started the #42 Team Sahlen Riley-BMW on the pole and led until he pitted just before the one hour mark in the 2 ¾ hour race to hand off to Wayne Nonnamaker. The duo ran a strong race, finishing fourth, with Cameron back in the car for the final stint.
The GT class win went to Eric Curran and Lawson Aschenbach in the Marsh Racing Corvette. Aschenbach, who placed the Vette on the pole, was subbing for Boris Said, who could not get to Lime Rock because of travel difficulties. Alessandro Balzan and his Scuderia Corsa team took the GT drivers’ and team championships. Andy Lally and John Potter, who led drivers’ points coming into the Lime Rock race, were taken out of contention in a lap two incident. Turner Motorsport’s #94 M3, with Paul Dalla Lana at the wheel, was also caught in the incident, and was retired from the race. Turner’s other M3, driven by Michael Marsal and Tom Kimber-Smith, finished fifth in class.
The race was not just the season finale; it was the series finale, as the Tudor United SportsCar Championship series replaces both Grand-Am and the American Le Mans Series in 2014. Lime Rock is not on the USCC calendar .—Brian S. Morgan
