Ganassi Racing has announced that it will run two Riley-BMWs in the Rolex Series Brickyard Grand Prix in Indianapolis, including one for team regulars Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas and another for Indianapolis 500 winner Tony Kanaan and Joey Hand, who raced for Ganassi at Daytona in 2013.
Hand was a co-driver of the Daytona winning Ganassi prototype in 2011. Long-time Indy Car star Kanaan has driven GT cars in the Rolex Series in 1998 and 2013.
Both Ganassi cars will run the long-awaited Dinan-built S65 V8, based on the engine run in the current generation of M3s.
The Indianapolis race is the third leg of the three-race North American Endurance Championship. Ganassi Racing is second to Action Express in the team standings, while Pruett and Rojas are tied for third in NAEC drivers’ points behind Action Express racers Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi.
The Brickyard race will be run on Friday, July 26.—Brian S. Morgan
