    Here's Mat Watson of Auto Express filming a comparison between the new BMW M5 and the BMW S1000 R doing a lap of Cadwell Park race track in the UK.

    Aha, you're thinking, that won't be close. Well it wouldn't be, except for doing it on a wet day with leaves on the track, which means the bike rider has a passenger called Prudence. Still, it's a well-shot Top Gear sort of "How can we make this close?" test. Check it out here.

    Oh, you want numbers? The M5 produces 552 hp from a twin turbo 4.4 liter V8, and a top speed (ungoverned) south of 200 mph. The bike generates 193 hp from a 1-liter four cylinder but it only weighs 458 lbs, with a top speed around 170 mph.––Paul Duchene
