The BMW Performance Center and Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts today have announced that the 560-horsepower 2013 BMW M6 coupe will participate in the grueling One Lap of America event starting May 4. Instructors from the BMW Performance Center, located in Spartanburg, South Carolina, will drive the 3,400-mile tour that originates in South Bend, Indiana, and incorporates autocross, skid-pad, drag-strip, and closed-course racing. During the eight-day event, competitors will visit Talladega Grand Prix Raceway, NOLA Motorsports Park, Daytona International Speedway, Carolina Motorsports Park, Virginia International Raceway, Pittsburg International Raceway, and the BMW Performance Center.
 
“The third generation M6 will compete for the ‘Showroom Stock’ recognition within the Luxury class at One Lap of America, which serves as the perfect opportunity to demonstrate its performance capabilities as well as those of the BMW Performance Center instructors,” said Dan Gubitosa, BMW Performance Center Manager. The BMW M6 is available at all authorized US BMW Centers and is part of the M fleet available for participants to drive in the M School and Advanced M School. In addition, the BMW Performance Center will be providing the One Lap of America staff with official vehicles for 2013.
 
May 8: One Lap Runs At The BMW Performance Center 
The One Lap of America cars will be at the BMW Performance Center in Greer, South Carolina, to run for times on Wednesday, May 8, rain or shine. The first cars will arrive around 3:00 p.m. and runs will continue until around six.
 
The Performance Center is inviting everyone to come out and watch the event. Admission is free for spectators, and there will be food and drink available for purchase. After the competition there will hot lap rides available for a $20 donation to South Carolina charities.
