Ross Bentley, long recognized as one of the best high-performance driving and racing instructors in the world, and author of the popular Speed Secrets series of books, has just released a gift to the high-performance driver education (HPDE) instructing community, a free eBook entitled, appropriately enough, The HPDE Instructor Manifesto.

High-performance driving schools have been extremely popular with performance-oriented owners of all cars, but none more so than BMW drivers. For example, BMW Car Club of America chapters have been hosting driving schools at road-course tracks around the country since the 1970s, using a cadre of volunteer instructors. Unlike some professional racing schools, BMW Club schools put instructors right in the students’ cars, where they can see, hear, and feel what the student is doing and provide immediate feedback and direction.

Bentley’s message to driving school instructors explains his reason for making this eBook available free of charge, “I'm giving the eBook away for free because I appreciate what you and all the other instructors out there do for our sport of performance driving. Without you, we wouldn't be attracting and encouraging new people to join our sport—it wouldn't grow. This is my way of saying 'Thank You!' My hope is that every high-performance driver education instructor reads my eBook, for the more we all improve, the more people will join and stay in our sport."

The HPDE Instructor Manifesto contains over 40 pages of tips, advice, and ideas designed to help instructors improve their ability to teach students, and prepare accomplished HPDE students to move into the instructor ranks.
