We are proud to announce the Winner of the BMW CCA Oktoberfest 2012 Poster Contest. She is Rebecca McWilliams, a student at the Savannah School of Art & Design (SCAD), who sketched the winning design chronicling the history of the M6 Coupe from the E24, E63, and F12. She is from Maryland and is working on her M.F. A. in Communications, with a focus on Illustrations.
Rebecca was enthusiastic from the beginning about working on this project, “Working on this poster was an honor…I thought how can I incorporate my style to advertise one of the world’s most prestigious car brands, BMW.” When asked why she entered the contest, Rebecca explained: “I entered this competition because I knew that it would be a great collaboration…helping a company like BMW promote the 40th Anniversary of the M Brand Series was important.”
Rebecca did her own research on the cars and used traditional watercolors for her special interpretation of the various M6 Coupes. When describing her work, Rebecca revealed, “the perspective of the cars was an important component because it gives the most impact.”
We are also very grateful to her Professor Mohammed Danawi of SCAD who offered this contest to his Illustration students in late July, and who encouraged them to enter and enjoy this opportunity to create an event poster for both BMW’s 40th Anniversary of the M Brand, and the Oktoberfest celebration of the BMW CCA. As Rebecca best exclaimed, “What a great way to begin my career doing what I love to do with a great company.”
