Bruno Spengler is a close second in DTM points with two races remaining
BMW Team Schnitzer’s Bruno Spengler won his third DTM race of the season at Oschersleben, narrowing the gap to series points leader Gary Paffett of Mercedes with two races left in the season.
Spengler started from the pole and led the entire race, holding off Paffett’s challenges for the lead. Paffett’s teammate Jamie Greene finished third, ahead of the DTM M3s of Dirk Werner (Team Schnitzer) and Augusto Farfus (Team RBM). It was Werner's best-ever DTM finish.
BMW Team RMG’s Joey Hand finished eleventh. Both his teammate Martin Tomczyk and BMW Team RBM’s Andy Priaulx retired.
Spengler said, “Today is a great day for BMW. We produced a fantastic team result. I have often been on the podium in Oschersleben, and now I have finally managed to win here. It was really close again at the end. Gary Paffett was getting closer and closer and really put me under pressure. However, my car was fantastic. I could not afford to make any mistakes – and thankfully I didn’t. Thanks to my team. They gave me an unbelievable car again.”
