BMW Motorsport will conduct its first test since the end of the DTM season at the Jerez de la Frontera circuit in Spain. The December 2-4 tests are being run in advance of BMW’s annual Sports Trophy presentation and year-end motorsports party in Munich on December 6.
Six DTM regulars will be present along with a group of drivers getting their first chance to drive the M4 DTM. The regulars are Augusto Farfus, Maxime Martin, Bruno Spengler, Timo Glock, António Félix da Costa, and DTM champion Marco Wittmann. Among the new drivers are four British racers, including Tom Blomqvist, runner-up in the European Formula 3 series, Jack Harvey, runner-up in Indy Lights, Alex Lynn, newly crowned GP3 champion, and Formula E racer Sam Bird. New Zealander Richie Stanaway, who raced in GP3 this year, BMW works driver Lucas Luhr, and Robin Frijns, Formula Renault 3.5 champion in 2012, will also participate in the tests.
As part of BMW’s recognition for his DTM title, Marco Wittmann will test drive a 2012 Toro Rosso Formula One car on Thursday. Wittmann is the only BMW driver who has been confirmed for DTM in 2015; the others should be announced in Munich on December 6.—Brian S. Morgan
