The third race weekend of the 2016 Italian GT Championship saw BMW Team Italia take its first victory with the BMW M6 GT3. Alberto Cerqui and Stefano Comandini first secured pole position with the #15 BMW M6 GT3 at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. They then executed a virtually perfect race.
Comandini took the lead with just a few laps remaining when Ferrari driver Mirko Venturi dropped back due to a puncture – and he never looked back. Comandini and Cerqui crossed the finish line 12th in race two on Sunday.
With that victory, BMW Team Italia moves into 11th place in the standings with a little more than half the season left. The next round of the Italian GT Championship takes place in Mugello, Italy on July 17.
