BMW UK will field a three-car works team in the British Touring Car Championship in 2017. While the marque has been well represented in the series by privateer teams, this will be the first time in 21 years that BMW has mounted a factory effort.
West Surrey Racing, which has been running in the series as a privateer team, will receive financial and technical support from BMW UK. It will field three 125i M Sport race cars running two-liter B48 turbo motors.
Drivers will be Rob Collard, who drove for West Surrey last year, Colin Turkington, who won drivers’ championships in the series with BMW in 2009 and 2014, and Andrew Jordan, who won the 2013 BTCC champion in a Honda Civic,
The season begins at Brands Hatch on April 1 and 2.—Brian S. Morgan
