Triple XXX Root Beer Drive-ins used to be a major chain in the U.S.—right up there with A&W. But that was a long time ago and now there is only one Triple XXX left in the country, which located in Issaquah, Washington. To celebrate their heyday, the last Triple XXX has a 1950s and 1960s car theme, they also host car shows every Saturday and Sunday from spring into fall.

On May 29 it was the Puget Sound Chapter's turn for their annual event  that they have come to call Burgers & BMWs. As usual they filled the lot despite some morning drizzle—a common occurrence here in the Pacific Northwest. As the morning progressed the rain got a little heavier but our members, hardened by our Seattle-area climate, chose to ignore the rain with some even showing their disdain by wearing short-sleeved shirts and no jackets.

They had a terrific variety of cars and a good time was had by all. Until about noon when the skies opened up and there was no longer a way to simply ignore the rain—It came down in buckets! The site was buttoned up with alacrity and everyone headed home or elsewhere to enjoy the remainder of their Sunday.—David Lightfoot
