The draft balance of performance adjustments for the GTLM and GTD classes at Daytona reported here earlier have been finalized. The changes to the Z4s in both classes should help lessen the speed disadvantage that the cars experienced last year in the Rolex 24.

The Z4 GTLM will be granted a 25 kg weight reduction and a .3 millimeter larger air restrictor for Daytona. With the changes the car’s weight for Daytona will be 1230 kg, and its restrictor will be 30.5 millimeters. The Z4 will also be allowed to run a 15mm lower rear wing gurney height.

In addition to the 50 kg weight reduction noted in the draft version of the adjustments, the GTD class Z4 GT3 will be allowed a 19mm increase in restrictor size, moving the restrictor from 65 to 84 millimeters.

IMSA’s technical memo warns teams against sandbagging, saying “it should be noted that the performance levels exhibited at the pre-season ROAR before the 24 test will define the expected performance level for the Rolex 24 Race Event. Any performance which is outside of the expected level shall be penalized accordingly during or after the Race Event.”
