Philipp Eng and Ricky Collard drove a BMW Team Schnitzer M6 GT3 to victory in the second race of the weekend in the ADAC GT Masters Series season-opener at Oschersleben, Germany. It was the first ADAC race for Team Schnitzer—and the first time in an M6 GT3 for BMW Junior Collard.
Eng and Collard had finished third in the junior’s classification and tenth overall in the first race on Saturday. On Sunday Eng qualified the M6 GT3 on pole and started the race. Collard took over, holding on to the lead for the win in a race in which the field closed up during three safety car periods.
Team Schnitzer principal Charly Lamm said, “Obviously, I am very happy, as this was only our first race weekend in the ADAC GT Masters and we are still new in this series. Philipp and Ricky drove a perfect race. Philipp’s start was impeccable, he was able to defend the lead during the first half of the race in a governing way. After the driver change, Ricky needed very strong nerves due to the Safety Car periods. He more than succeeded in doing so and delivered a perfect performance despite the high pressure. The entire team did a fantastic job. I am very proud of my team. Now we can look forward to the next race weekend at the Lausitzring with confidence.”
