Just when you thought you had a favorite BMW color, BMW shows off the new BMW M6 Convertible in Frozen White. On display for the start of the Nürburgring 24-Hour race this weekend along with the M6 Coupe and the M6 Gran Tourismo, BMW’s top-of-the-line convertible undoubtedly had some BMW fans reevaluating whether or not they would spend an extra $3,600 dollars for paint on a new BMW.

According to the BMW USA web site’s configurator, Frozen White is an option only on the BMW 6 Series. Since the base price of the least-expensive model, the 640i Coupe, is $76,600, an extra $3,600 probably won’t dent the buyer’s wallet that much, or maybe that’s what haggling is for.

BMW had another reason for presenting the M6 Coupe, Convertible, and Gran Tourismo at the ‘Ring. In July, these cars will be available with the newest M6 Competition Package. A custom-tuned suspension will help the cars take advantage of the 600 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque that the new package provides, up from 575 horsepower and 501 pound-feet in the old M6 Competition Package.

With the new package, the M6 Coupe will be able to run from zero to 60 mph in 3.9 seconds. Top speed will still be an electronically limited 155 mph, just like all the regular 6 Series cars, but with the new Competition Package and the optional M Driver Package, the M6's electronic top speed limit is raised to just short of 190 mph.

Many BMW enthusiasts gazing upon the Frozen White M6 Convertible would probably wish that the color was available on other—perhaps more affordable—BMW models. Frozen White is a BMW Individual color, so theoretically it may be available through special order from Individual—for a price that may make an affordable car a bit less affordable. But it would look good.—Scott Blazey
