Joey Hand recently sat down with The Checkered Flag to talk about his up-and-down season in DTM and where he might end up in 2015. Joey showed speed throughout the season, but had quite a few unlucky instances that kept him from shining.
Here is what Joey had to say about his bad luck:
“At the end of the year, we’ve become closer, as here and at Zandvoort, we have some pace. Some years, you just don’t seem to get any breaks, like the Safety Car in Oschersleben caught us out when I was running sixth in the rain.”
He also talked about the M4 DTM versus the M3 DTM that was driven for the last two seasons with success:
“The high-speed stuff might be edgy, but the car being that way makes it faster. I’m just trying to adapt to it, as well as the team. It sounds easy to just come to a race and say that we’re going to run the car a particular way, but even if I come into the pits and say that the car is too edgy, they’ll tell me that I’ll have to drive it like it is.”
As for the his future, that will most likely be made public after the annual year-end BMW Motorsport dinner in Munich.
“I don’t know, to be honest. It’s clearly going to be either DTM or the TUSCC series fro 2015. Either way, I’d like to come back here to Europe, as I have unfinished business here in the DTM. Everywhere I’ve been, I’ve won, and the day’s not over yet,”
