Equipment Updates

All 2018 Mini Models:

Updates to equipment will affect every 2018 Mini. For example, every 2018 Mini will come with a rear view camera and Rear Park Distance Control as standard equipment. The Rear Park Distance Control provides audio guidance when an object is detected, on screen path lines, and red, yellow, and green graphics. Minis with Excitement Package 4V9 will also have the red, green, and yellow warnings displayed on the Center Instrument LED ring.

The Technology Package (ZTP) will include Front and Rear Park Distance Control with Parallel Parking Assistant (5DP). This was a $500 option previously.

The paint pricing structure introduced with the new Countryman will apply to all other 2018 Minis. For example, Moonwalk Grey will be a “no charge” paint color, while the John Cooper Works Rebel Green (JCW only) and Mini Yours Lapisluxury Blue will be an additional $1,000. All other paint colors will be a $500 upgrade. Not all colors are available for all models and variants.

The on/off control for the optional Head-Up Display system will move to the center screen, which is the same place where brightness, height, and rotation adjustments are made.

The toggle switch to the farthest right now will be used to select the vehicle’s driving mode (if equipped with 4VA). This toggle switch replaces the previous ring-style selector at the base of the gearshift lever.

Manual lumbar support has been removed from the following upholsteries:

•   Cloth/Dinamica Combination – Carbon Black

•   Cloth/Leatherette Combination – Black Pearl

•   Cloth/Leather Combination Cord – Carbon Black

•   Cloth/Leather Combination – Diamond – Carbon Black

•   Cloth/Leather Combination – Diamond – Malt Brown

The fuel gauge has been redesigned for all models.

All 2018 models will get the same windshield wiper and turn signal stalks as the new Countryman, in which the stalks stay in position rather than immediately returning to center.

2018 Mini Clubman and Countryman:

Starting with July production, Apple CarPlay support will come as part of the Technology Package (ZTP) in the Clubman and Countryman. Apple CarPlay lets owners use some iPhone features and Apple’s user interface on the car’s in-dash screen wirelessly. The 2018 John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 and Cooper S E Countryman ALL4 (PHEV) vehicles produced from March 2017 through the end of June 2017 cannot support Apple CarPlay.

Attentiveness Assistant is a convenience feature that can help recognize decreasing driver attention and suggests when the driver should take a break. This feature has been available since November 2016 on cars with the optional touchscreen navigation system, but now will be standard on all 2018 Clubman and Countryman Minis.

2018 Mini Countryman:

The Convenience Package no longer includes an elastic strap on the left side of the cargo area but it does still include an elastic strap on the right side of the cargo area.

2018 Mini Clubman and Hardtop 4 Door:

No more metal inlays in the rear door sills. The front door sill inlays will not change.

2018 Mini Convertible:

A compact spare wheel/tire will no longer be available on the Cooper Convertible.
