Club News

Legends Of The Autobahn, presented by Michelin, is not just highlighted by the beautiful Nicklaus Club setting, or by the hundreds of judged and displayed German cars canvassing the fairways, or by the 50th anniversary of the AMG name, or by cars new and old, restored and original, painted and patinaed—or even by the thousands of fellow enthusiasts who flock to what many call the hidden jewel of Monterey Car Week.

One of the highlights people are often surprised to appreciate is the array of vendors, sponsors and partners that not only enable Legends continued growth and success, but increase attendees’ enjoyment and often find them leaving with specific knowledge and resources to apply to their own pride and joys. This year, Legends of the Autobahn has a number of long-time supporters large and small, but also welcomes new partners to the fold as well. We’ll highlight three here and then do it again next week!

While many of our Display Corral and Concours cars are driven to Monterey and into Legends of the Autobahn, some are trailered into the event. How appropriate then, that one new partner is the online interactive vintage car listing and auction house, Bring a Trailer. More than 5,000 cars have been listed in BaT Auctions, including many from our own members! In fact, as part of their presence at Legends of the Autobahn, at their booth, our friends from Bring a Trailer will have an actual trailer…with a car currently listed with Bring a Trailer! Stop by and check out this online listing in person!

BMW CCA official Car Care Partner, Griot’s Garage, makes another appearance at Legends this year, following partnering with us at Bimmerfest West, The Vintage and Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. Attendees have appreciated Griot’s attentive approach, listening to their needs, asking second-level questions, and identifying a solution of Griot’s car care products and tools to support attendees’ goals. Free product samples don’t hurt, either!

Griot’s Sales Manager, Rod Kraft, recalled the same after PVGP. “Everyone who stopped by the Griot’s tent was extremely eager to know about the latest and greatest products.” Rod added, “The ongoing informal ‘tech sessions’ were very helpful for those who wanted to know how to maintain and or improve their vehicles’ paint or other areas of their vehicle. Throughout the weekend, both [colleague] Matt [Perry] and I were asked to venture away from the tent to look at a member’s vehicle and provide recommendations on what it may need.”

Many will agree there isn’t anything wrong with a good looking exterior. To help address the mechanical nature of our cars, Dinan extends its long-standing partnership with the BMW CCA with a presence at Legends this year, too. Dinan was a great supporter at Oktoberfest 2016 and our Car Of Your Dreams raffles, so it will be great to see the Bay Area company out at Legends this year. Whether your preferred car is a more modern BMW or an older BMW (and yes, they’re making inroads into Legends of the Autobahn partner, Audi, too!), stop by their tent to share your stories and hear the latest on Dinan products and solutions.

We hope to see you at Legends and Festorics this year. Time is running out for registration so dive in now to register your car for any of the Concours classes--including the new Tuner Category presented by KW Suspension, or in the Display Corral (also presented by KW Suspension!). This year, too, Hagerty is presenting a People’s Choice Award for the Display Corral, so make sure you vote once you’re there!

(Stay tuned for more about other Legends partners like KW Suspension, XPEL, Shell, Sports Car Market magazine, Hagerty, and more!)
