Uwe Alzen and Jörg Müller in a Marc VDS Z4 GT3 finished second overall in the May 17 VLN race at the Nürburgring, while Team Schubert’s Dominik Baumann, Claudia Hürtgen, and Jens Klingmann finished fourth in another Z4 GT3.
The overall win went to the Black Falcon Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 driven by Lance Arnold, Andreas Simonsen, and Christian Menzel.
The race, scheduled for four hours, was stopped soon after the three-hour mark because of a crash. It was the last opportunity for teams to test in a race at the Nürburgring in advance of the 24-hour race on June 21-22.
Daniel Zils, Norbert Fischer, and Uwe Ebertz scored their second straight win in the BMW M235i Racing Cup competition, run within the overall VLN race.
Jörg Müller said, “It is a shame the final test before the 24-hour race was suspended, as we actually still wanted to do a tire test at the end of the race. However, we now know our BMW Z4 GT3 so well and enjoyed such a smooth preparation that we can look ahead to the highlight of the season in five weeks with a good feeling.”—Brian S. Morgan
