The 2017 Geneva International Motor Show is underway in Switzerland. BMW is there with new models, facelifted cars, and special editions. The video below, complete with great images and very dramatic music, shows what you would see if you were in Geneva this week.
The biggest news from Geneva is the launch of the G31 BMW 5 Series Touring. Well, it's big news if you live in Europe where Tourings sell very well instead of the U.S. where they don't. We will not be getting this sumptuous wagon but it sure is nice to look at. The example on the display stand at the show is the all-new BMW 540i xDrive Touring. All that room and xDrive, too.
Next up is the BMW 440i Coupe. This is still the F32 but the model on display in Geneva has undergone the series' Life Cycle Improvement. The headlights and taillights have been updated, it has the latest iDrive with the new tiled display, digital dials in the instrument cluster, and tweaks to the steering and suspension.
The current top dawg of the 5 Series is featured at Geneva. Until the next M5 is released, the M550i xDrive will be the fastest 5 Series. The BMW stand also included other examples of the new 5, including a diesel model that we also will not get here.
Electrified Bimmers are represented by the new BMW 530e iPerformance, the X5 40e, I3, and i8.
Speaking of i8s, BMW brought a few, including some limited editions of the company's halo car. The most exotic color scheme comes on the BMW i8 Garage Italia CrossFade, a production version of the Garage Italia CrossFade Concept from a few months ago. The other new edition is the BMW i8 Protonic Frozen Black that is getting its World Premiere at Geneva.
Among the M vehicles at the show are the BMW X6 M, the BMW M6 Cabrio, and the new BMW M4 Coupe LCI version.
The Geneva Motor Show is the first big show of the season for Europe so naturally, BMW highlighted the models that it sells there. Even though we won't get them all, we'll get enough of them to keep us happy, more or less. That 5 Series Touring would look good over here, though.—Scott Blazey
