In Monterey, we were able to meet and speak with representatives of the many sponsors and vendors who generously supported the events. Among those were Akrapovic, an innovative materials-technology company that designs and manufactures high-performance motorcycle and car exhaust systems—and which is coincidentally celebrating its own 25th anniversary.
The Akrapovič reps were in the vendor area at Oktoberfest, talking with members and showing samples of their products. Meanwhile the company had already produced a new video showing how one of their new exhaust systems looked and sounded on one of our favorite cars: the BMW M2.
The high-performance Akrapovič exhaust for the BMW M2 is made completely of titanium. The M2 gains performance due to the exhaust system's lighter weight, but also because of its design. Akrapovič says an M2 with its exhaust has nine horsepower more than a stock M2 and 5.3 more pound-feet of torque. That is significant.
Lighter weight and more power are definitely what BMW performance enthusiasts are looking for, but what they also get is fantastic sound. Listen for yourself and enjoy.—Scott Blazey
