BMW Z4 GT3s won in VLN and ADAC GT races in Germany and made the podium in the Blancpain Sprint Series at Moscow Raceway.
Walkenhorst Motorsport scored its first overall win in VLN competition when BMW Motorsport Junior driver Jesse Krohn, Michela Cerruti, and Felipe Férnandes Laser piloted the team’s #36 Z4 GT3 to a win in 90˚F weather on the July 4 four hour race on the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring. It was the first win in a Z4 GT3 for Krohn, and Cerruti became only the second woman to win a VLN race.
It was also a hot weekend at the Lausitzring where Jens Klingmann and Dominik Baumann won the first of two ADAC GT Masters’ Series races in a BMW Trophy Team Schubert Z4 GT3. Their teammates Claudia Hürtgen and Uwe Alzen finished third. In the second race Klingmann and Baumann finished fourth while Hürtgen and Alzen finished eighth. Sebastian Asch and Luca Ludwig won the race in a Zakspeed Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3.
Valdeno Brito and Atila Abreu in the #77 BMW Team Brazil Z4 GT3 finished second in the main Blancpain Sprint Series race at Moscow Raceway. Their teammates Caca Bueno and Sergio Jimenez did not finish the race. Vincent Abril and Maxi Buhk won in a Bentley Continental GT3. The win in the qualifying race went to Albert von Thurn und Taxis and Nick Catsburg in a Lamborghini Gallardo R-EX.
