Augusto Farfus and Maxime Martin finished second and third in the Sunday DTM race on the series' opening weekend at Germany's Hockenheim track—and three other BMW racers finished in the top ten.
However, Timo Glock, who finished second on the circuit in the Sunday race, was later excluded because the position of his car's rear deck lid was not in compliance with DTM regulations.
Farfus, who had started his BMW Team MTEK M4 DTM second on the grid, ran near the front along with Team RMG’s Glock and Team RBM’s Martin throughout the race. Martin’s teammate Tom Blomqvist finished sixth, Team RMG’s Marco Wittmann finished eighth, and Team Schnitzer’s Martin Tomczyk finished ninth. Neither his teammate António Félix da Costa nor Team MTEK’s Bruno Spengler finished the race. Mercedes’ Paul Di Resta won the race, leading much of the way.
Spengler had been the best finisher on Saturday, when he came across the line sixth ahead of da Costa and Martin. Audi racer Edoardo Mortara won Saturday’s race.
