Don’t you love attending a world premiere for a movie with a top-level director and A-list actors and great car chases and explosions? Isn’t it even better when one of the cars is a new BMW?
On Sunday, October 23, many of us BMW enthusiasts were there for the online world premiere of BMW Film’s latest installment of “The Hire” series, titled “The Escape.” Academy Award-nominated actor Clive Owen (“Closer,” “King Arthur,” “Children of Men”) reprised his role as The Driver, a skillful car handler who is not above tempering his mercenary nature with doing the right thing.
Directed by Neill Blomkamp (“District 9,” “Elysium”), also an Academy Award nominee, “The Escape” tells the story of The Driver taking on a strange passenger from a genetics lab that may or may not be connected to questionable experiments.
The film also features Dakota Fanning (“War of the Worlds,” “I am Sam”), Jon Bernthal (“The Punisher,” “Daredevil”) and Oscar nominee Vera Farmiga (“The Departed,” “Up in the Air”).
Of course, a featured player that isn’t named in the cast is the brand-new, just-released but not yet launched BMW 540i M Sport. The film does a good job showing us the G30 5 Series Sedan from almost every angle with good action shots. As a video advertising brochure, it’s pretty darn good—the car looks terrific.
See for yourself. Enjoy “The Escape.”—Scott Blazey
After you’ve watched it a couple of times, take a look behind the scenes at how the film was made.
