Nicky Catsburg, driving a Rowe Racing M6 GT3, finished seventh in a crazy FIA GT World Cup race on the street circuit at Macau.
The cars actually raced for less than five laps! BMW Z4 GT3 racer Ricky Capo crashed on lap one, and the safety car came out. But then the race was red-flagged for course repairs after four laps. At that point, Audi racer Laurens Vanthoor was leading.
After 45 minutes the race went back to green. Porsche racer Earl Bamber took the lead from Vanthoor, who then crashed into a barrier. His Audi went airborne and then slid down the track on its roof. The race was red-flagged again, this time for good because the time allotted for the race ran out.
As results were determined based on the order at the end of the last lap before the incident, Vanthoor was awarded the win. Bamber, who was penalized for a lap one contact incident, was classified fourth. Catsburg, who had finished seventh in the qualifying race, finished in the same position in the main race.
