There may still be hope if you wanted a special edition BMW M4 GTS track-ready coupe but were afraid they would be all gone by now. BMW may have added another 103 cars to its original production run of 700 for the global market.
Based on a vehicle identification number analysis described on Bimmerpost and reported by Motor1.com, BMW may have made a total of 803 M4 GTS for customers and another 27 for promotional purposes. BMW just gave an M4 GTS to Marco Wittman for winning the DTM championship, so that's where one of them went.
All the M4 GTS cars have apparently been built, with the last one being a U.S.-spec model in Black Sapphire that entered final production on November 28, 2016.
The U.S. market was supposed to get 300 of the water-injected track ready M4s. We do not know if any of the additional 103 will come to the U.S. market although we could hope based on knowing the last M4 GTS made was a U.S. model.
The M4 GTS has a manufacturer's suggested retail price of $134,200 but some dealers reportedly added as much as a $200,000 markup on the 493 horsepower beast. An Internet search for "New BMW M4 GTS" turned up quite a few listings at dealerships selling the cars for MSRP and up. So if you would like a very special M4 for show or for the track, they apparently are still available.—Scott Blazey
