Andrew Jordan in a West Surrey Racing 125i M Sport held off his teammate Colin Turkington for a win in the third race at the British Touring Car Championship season opener on April 1 at Brands Hatch.
Jordan and Rob Collard, the third WSR driver, finished sixth and seventh in race one; Turkington retired from that race after a collision. In race two Collard finished second, Jordan finished seventh, and Turkington moved up to tenth from his 32nd-place starting position. The West Surrey Racing team is supported by BMW UK this season. The series runs next at Donington on April 15-16.
The Blancpain GT Series Sprint Cup also ran its season opener on the March 31/April 1 weekend on the Misano circuit in Italy. Tom Blomqvist and Philipp Eng finished sixth in the Sunday main race in the #99 Rowe Racing M6 GT3, and their teammates Jesse Krohn and Markus Palttala finished seventh in car #98. Krohn and Palttala had finished tenth in the Saturday qualifying race while Blomqvist and Eng finished sixteenth. Franck Perera and Maximilian Buhk won both races in a Mercedes-AMG GT3. The series runs again at Brands Hatch on May 6 and 7.—Brian S. Morgan
