The long-promised BMW i8 Roadster must be closer to an official launch: BMW just released an official teaser video of the i8 coupe's roofless sibling. Unfortunately, no details were forthcoming on things like interior, powertrain, or colors, and the exterior of the car still sports the BMW i camouflage we have seen in various spy photos and videos. But at least this movie is from BMW.
An important tidbit of information from the press release on this teaser is that BMW referred to the car as the BMW i8 Roadster. Does that mean that BMW will not call this car a Spyder like the original BMW i8 Concept Spyder? Probably. You never really know until the official launch, but right now we're betting on Roadster.

We have not seen any official statements from BMW on when the i8 Roadster will be presented to the world, but the Frankfurt International Auto Show is only about two months away.
