One thousand dollars in Shell gas cards: That's this period's Special Drawing prize within the Car Of Your Dreams raffle—$1,000 in Shell V-Power NiTRO gas cards! And the period is a relative short one; it ends August 10—ten days from now (if you're a prompt Roundel Weekly reader—fewer if you're not)! Each raffle ticket you buy during that time is an entry into this special drawing. Let's look at what this means beyond just "you win a lot of gas!"
Last week, we drew Paul Ruchtie’s name as the winner of the $1,200 Michelin tire certificate. There might have been a few thousand of you who have been nervously measuring tread depth who let out a big groan when Paul’s name was drawn. We—and presumably Paul—understand that you have no ill will towards Paul, but many of you could have used $1,200 toward Michelin tires. AND Paul is still eligible for the Car Of Your Dreams raffle—the 2018 ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe, the M2 or the M240i’s available, too! Even if Paul wasn’t on his way to buy new tires this month, when he does, he’ll be able to put $1200 of his own money somewhere else.
Similarly, if you win $1,000 in Shell gas cards, unless you’re driving one of BMW’s (ok, or another make) all electric cars, this means you’ll save…$1,000! Think of not needing to spend any of your money on Shell fuel for…maybe eight months! What else can you do with $1,000 over those eight months?
Other drivers in your family? Maybe give them one of the Shell gas cards as a reward.
Friends who helped you move? Gas card.
Neighbor still looking for his or her torque wrench you have in your garage? Gas card. Or two.
Some of you know exactly how long this will take. For the rest of us, as of this writing, the average price of a gallon of petrol here in the states is $2.31. For math purposes, and because many of you probably migrate straight to the fancy stuff, let’s go with $2.50 per gallon. Let’s say—in our increasing list of averages, maybes and what-ifs—your car has a 16-gallon tank (current model 3 Series cars can have up to 15.8-gallon tanks and 5 Series cars can have up to 18.5-gallon tanks) and you average 22 miles per gallon (maybe an older car, maybe…spirited driving, or maybe that sounds spectacular to you). You’re being a good driver and fueling up when you get to a quarter tank left. The average driver in the U.S. drives 259 miles per week, and even if you have more than one car, we’ll say for the sake of argument that collectively, your cars drive close enough to that number that we can continue here.
Your average of 22 miles per gallon after three quarters of your 16-gallon tank will get you 264 miles—just about the national average in a week. So, you’re fueling up once a week and spending $30 ($2.50 for 12 gallons). If you’ve just won $1,000 in Shell V-Power NiTRO gas cards and keep all the cards for yourself (we don’t judge), that’s 33 weeks of gas covered. Depending how quickly we get you your Shell gas cards, that will take you through the week of April 9th, 2018. That’s right, you might not have to pay for gas until Tax Day!
All this for a $25 entry—per ticket, purchased before the end of Thursday, August 10. That’s right, a Thursday—sort of random day, so you might forget and miss your chance. So click now and jump into the game. Each ticket is an entry in the Special Raffle for the $1,000 in Shell V-Power NiTRO gas cards. And, regardless if you win or not, each ticket purchased still gives you a chance to win the 2018 ALPINA B6 xDrive Gran Coupe grand prize, the M2 first prize, or the M240i main prizes (your mileage in those cars may vary!).
