Marco Wittmann in the #11 Team RMG M4 DTM finished third in the Sunday, September 10 DTM race at the Nürburgring. On Saturday, Sepember 9, Augusto Farfus (Team RMG) finished eighth.
Wittmann started from the pole on Sunday, dropped to second early in the race, but then regained the lead for a time. When he pitted and came out on cold tires, Mercedes’ Robert Wickens, whose pit stop three laps earlier had allowed his tires to warm up, moved into the lead. Wickens held on for the win ahead of Mercedes’ Paul Di Resta and Wittmann. BMW Team RBM’s Bruno Spengler finished fourth, and BMW racers Timo Glock (Team RMG), Farfus, and Tom Blomqvist (Team RBM) finished eighth, ninth, and tenth.
Farfus dominated the race on Saturday until rain started just as he made a pit stop for a new set of slicks. He had to return to the pits for rain tires, and finished eighth. Wittmann finished ninth. The win went to Mercedes’ Lucas Auer.
