An exclusive hotel on the shore of Northern Italy's Lake Como will again be the most beautiful spot on earth from May 25 to 28, thanks to nature and BMW Group Classic. BMW Group Classic and the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este will present the 2018 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este with some of the world’s most exclusive and beautiful historic cars and motorcycles. In a setting suitable for films, it's no coincidence that the theme for the 2018 Concorso is “Hollywood on the Lake.”
The competition for historic automobiles will be divided into eight categories with periods covering the history of motorized transport. Invitees include pre-war race cars and luxury sedans to sports cars and grand touring cars from after the war as well. In covering such a large swath of automotive history, the event will be covering all the eras of motion picture cars, from the silent film era to modern blockbusters.
Special classes will include vehicles of "exeptional character." For example, Formula 1 race cars from different decades will appear in the premier class of motorsport.
The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este was first held in 1929. BMW Group Classic came on board as an organizer in 2005.
The nomination process for the 2018 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este has already started. Owners of outstanding classics from the entire spectrum of automotive history may submit their cars for consideration at this time.
Two-wheeled powered vehicles that are representative of the history of the motorcycle will also be on stage during the eighth iteration of the Concorso di Motociclette. This part of the event includes a Street Run through the streets of Cernobbio by entered motorcycles.
