The FIA will be asked to homologate a modified World Rally Championship Mini

The Prodrive organization, still the constructor/developer of the Mini WRC even though it has been displaced as the factory team, has prepared an upgraded version of the car for homologation by the FIA next week.

Autosport.com reports that both Dani Sordo and Kris Meeke have tested the car with the modifications in place. According to autosport.com, modifications to the car include a new front spoiler, a lighter rear wing, and some engine modifications.

Assuming that the car passes its homologation inspection it will run at Rally Portugal in April.  The existing car will be run in next weekend’s rally Mexico by WRC Team Mini Portugal, Mini’s new official pro rally team.—Brian S. Morgan, motorsports editor, bmwcca.org
