BMW reintroduces the M6 to its lineup, with both a coupe and convertible version due this summer. After a two-year spell on the sidelines, the already impressive M6 returns with an improved mill and various enhancements.
Featuring a 4.4-liter V8, delivering a hefty 560 horsepower with 500 pound-feet of torque, the M6 Convertible can rocket from 0-62 mph in 4.3 seconds with an electronically limited top-speed of 155 mph.
On top of increased power, the Convertible M6 will feature BMW’s Active M Differential, which will provide an electronically-controlled multi-plate limited-slip differential programmed for optimal stability and traction.
BMW has described the M6 as both athletic and luxurious. Wide air intakes, aggressively contoured headlights, newly designed M kidney grille, which bears an “M6″ badge – an homage to the first generation M6 – and 19-inch M-designed wheels, all add up to a compelling car.
BMW has thrown in its signature M Drive configuration, with optional M Head-Up display that projects various driver-related information directly in the driver’s field of vision including graphics and road symbols. In addition, a digital read-out displays what gear you’re in, and a full-color rev counter complete with Shift Lights assists with gear changes.––Paul Duchene
