    In our August Roundel cover story, you’ll read all about the 640i Gran Coupé, including speculation on the possibilities of an M version of this fabulous car. After all, the drivetrain and platform already exist in the M6 coupe and convertible.

     
    Now it’s official: Yes, Virginia, next year you will be able to buy a four-door M6. (I’d start saving now, as the M6 Gran Coupé is sure to be the top of the M line. Go find some rich parents, quick!)
     
    While the engine and transmission will be virtually identical to those in the coupe-with-no-accent and the convertible, M GmbH is said to be upping the ante in the four-door Gran Coupé: Expect about 580 horsepower—enough to start hunting for those puny AMGs.—Satch Carlson
