Jacob Harb, head of BMW i3 for the U.S., reports that BMW centers will start taking orders for the car in November. The first deliveries to the U.S. won’t happen before spring, he says, ”but you can order your own i3 next month."
Globally, BMW reports that more than 8,000 pre-orders for the car have been placed, leading the company to consider increased production. The MSRP in the US will be $41,350, before federal or state incentives. The U.S. destination-and-handling fee is $925. The BMW i3 with range-extender option starts at $45,200.
BMW also announced that the base price for the BMW i3 in Germany will be €34,950 ($48,150 USD). The car will be available in Germany in November.—Paul Duchene
