BMW Group USA follows up a record setting August with another record setting month in September. The BMW brand saw sales of 25,586 compared to 23,568 vehicles sold in September, 2013. This is an increase of 8.6 percent over last year and are now up 11.3 percent for the first 9 months of the year.

“After such a strong August, to set a new September sales record for BMW is a great accomplishment and emphasizes the importance of our new models to the company’s sales success,” said Ludwig Willisch, President and CEO, BMW of North America. “I am especially pleased to see dealer deliveries of the spectacular i8 hybrid now underway as we enter the very important fourth quarter of the year.”

The BMW i brand has reported some strong sales as they delivered 1,022 i3s to customers for the month. Let's hope that this isn't just buzz for the roll-out of this innovative vehicle and that these sales numbers continue.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Mini brand continues to struggle with reported sales of 4,219 automobiles, a decrease of 20.5 percent from the 5,306 sold in the same month a year ago. The year falls right in line with those numbers as MINI USA reported a sales total of 39,188 automobiles, a decrease of 21.0 percent from the 49,635 automobiles at the same time in 2013.—Nate Risch
