Turner Motorsport, the defending GTD class championship winning team, has announced that it will return to the Tudor United SportsCar Championship series in 2015.
Turner said, “I have been working on putting this (IMSA) program together since the last race – I’m happy to say that everything just fell into place this past weekend - now my guys are going to have to work round the clock to get the car ready for Daytona."
Michael Marsal, who has raced for Turner for five full seasons, will drive the team’s Z4 along with Marcus Palttala. Andy Priaulx will join Marsal and Palttala in the series’ Patron National Endurance Cup Races, including the Rolex 24 at Daytona, the 12 Hours of Sebring, the six-hour race at Watkins Glen, and the ten-hour Petit Le Mans race at Road Atlanta.
In 2014 Dane Cameron won the GTD drivers’ championship in Turner’s Z4, and Turner Motorsport won the team championship. Palttala, who co-drove with Cameron and also raced a Z4 in Europe, finished sixth in drivers’ points, as he missed the race at Indianapolis. Palttala won the 2014 BMW Sports Trophy.
Palttala said, "I’m especially happy to return to the Tudor Championship with Turner Motorsport and the BMW Z4 GTD No. 97. I love racing in the US, there are just so many great circuits and events. With everything I learned in 2014 I think Michael and I will have a good run this season and I am looking forward to another season with Turner Motorsport.”
