Ashley Freiberg and Trent Hindman in the #46 Fall-Line M3 finished third overall and third in Grand Sport in the 2 ½-hour Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge race at Road America on the first weekend in August.
Just two weeks earlier Freiberg had been taken out on the first lap of the CTSCC race at Lime Rock; Hindman did not get a turn in the car. This time, with the car rebuilt by the Fall-Line crew after Lime Rock, both drivers ran near the front of the pack.
Hindman was second just before the final caution period ended with less than 30 minutes remaining in the race. When the track went back to green he battled with a pair of Doran Racing Nissan 370Zs driven by Steven Doherty and BJ Zacharias; their skirmish allowed Matt Plumb to extend his lead in the Rum Bum Porsche that he shared with his brother Hugh Plumb. Zacharias, in the #14 Nissan that he shared with Brad Jaeger, got by Hindman’s M3 and went after the Porsche. But Plumb was able to hold the Z-car off for the win, with just a .314 second margin. It was Matt Plumb’s 21st CTSCC win, a new record for the series.
Fall-Line also raced the #48 M3 at Road America, with team owner Mark Boden and Tonis Kasemetz at the controls. They finished eighth, on the lead lap.
Tyler Cooke and Andrie Hartanto in the #81 BimmerWorld 328i finished fourth in Street Tuner. The class win went to the Honda Civic Si driven by Chad Gilsinger and Ryan Eversley. Eversley had been running a close second to Spencer Pumpelly in a Porsche Cayman; both cars were very low on fuel. Eversley made it to the finish line, but Pumpelly ran out of gas with just two corners remaining in the race.
